Word documents and Excel workbooks for business

I design business materials that look consistent and remain practical to edit. These include proposals, reports, Word templates, letterheads, data-entry sheets and readable Excel dashboards. The format follows the task: a document guides its reader, while a workbook helps a team work with information.

Who is this service for?

This service suits businesses repeatedly preparing similar proposals or reports, and teams organising manually maintained spreadsheets. A shared template can help when everyone formats a document differently. For a workbook, we first establish who enters the data, who reviews it and which question the report needs to answer.

Word templates and letterheads

I work on heading structure, paragraph styles, tables, headers, footers and spaces for business details. A template should continue to work after another page is added, instead of only looking good in its first preview. For a letterhead, the identity needs to leave room for the actual correspondence. The business supplies its registration details and required wording; graphic design does not replace checking their accuracy.

Excel workbooks and dashboards

A sample of the real columns and the update process provides the starting point. We separate data-entry areas from calculations and summaries. Clear labels, number formats and consistent colours help people understand what they should change. Depending on scope, a workbook can include formulas, summaries and charts. Connections to accounting systems or advanced automation are not assumed without first checking the requirements.

Editing and handover checks

We check documents with short and longer content, and workbooks with representative data, including blank fields and unusual values. We agree the Office version, file formats and how the team will share the material. A PDF preview helps assess print output but does not replace testing the editable file. For the brief, an anonymised sample is preferable to customer records or confidential business information. The deliverable needs to support the daily task as well as its visual presentation.

Deliverables

  • Editable Word document or Excel workbook according to scope
  • Styles, tables and elements consistent with the business identity
  • Agreed formulas, summaries and data visualisations
  • A filled-in example and agreed guidance for further editing

What to include in your brief

  • An example document or anonymised dataset
  • User workflow and the information people need to obtain
  • Logo, colours, business details and required template elements
  • Software version, variants, deadline and expected functionality

How we work together

  1. Understand the recurring task and its users.
  2. Agree document structure or data columns and summaries.
  3. Prepare the layout and agreed functionality.
  4. Test a representative example and review changes before handover.

Scope and quotation

Layout count, table complexity, calculations and language variants affect the quotation. Macros, database connections, data migrations and ongoing support are not included by default. Legal, tax and accounting content remains the responsibility of the business's appropriate specialists. Those boundaries should be clear before visual production starts.

Examples and portfolio

The services overview includes Word and Excel previews describing the offer. The public portfolio does not currently document a client implementation of these materials. An enquiry can describe a specific workflow problem and include a safe sample for assessing scope.
